Nagahama

It is a city in the North of the Lake Biwa, the biggest lake in Japan. It is known for its lower district of Nagahama Castle, held by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the sixteenth century. It was animated by travelers between the seventeenth and the nineteenth centuries. A famous bonsai exhibition takes place in February. Birds are abundant on the lake and the scenery of Nagahama is ranked among the 100 top twilight landscapes of Japan.
