Many travellers want to discover Kyōto in an unique way. Yet for better or for worse, their travels often end up in an ordinary way although they'd read a guidebook. The ancient capital has plenty more to see than you can look up in a guidebook or on the Internet. You might think Japanese culture is difficult to understand. Kyōto was the capital of Japan for more than a thousand years and is the origin of Japanese cultural diversity. We'll help you understand its characteristics, so that you can enjoy more gardens, monuments, traditions, and discover the courtesy of Japanese people and their respect for nature. Those knowledge will also be helpful when you visit other towns, because Kyōto is the cradle of this wonderful country.
In Nara, you can walk among deers and see famous temples, classified as World Heritage by the UNESCO, such as Tōdai-ji and Hōryū-ji. As for Ōsaka, it's a lively and dynamic city. We also advise you to visit Shiga, still little known among foreign tourists but where you can appreciate beautiful landscapes, traditional districts and the Lake Biwa, the biggest lake of Japan. Access to those three towns from Kyōto is quite easy and you'll discover there, different sorts of food, cultures and ways of life.
Whatever you do, make sure you plan to meet local people during your trip, one of the interests of travel. And with your tour guide, you'll be able to interact easily with locals. He was born in 1981 in Kyōto, where he grew up.
He began to study English at 11 and graduated from Ryūkoku University in 2004. He got certified as an national licensed guide-interpreter in 2009. He has guided lots of travellers in Kyōto, Nara, Ōsaka, Shiga, Hiroshima, Hakone, Tōkyō, Kamakura, Nikkō and many other cities. He has also worked as a translator for some foreign media coverages and shootings, as well as in foreign guidebooks, travel magazines and art-related work. In 2019, he served as a tour conductor for Rugby World Cup tour.
In Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, he teaches English and established, in 2020, a local English speaking guide association, ABLE TAKASHIMA, to revitalize the town with tourism. In 2021, he published his French book "Visitez le Japon au fil de son histoire" in Europe.
The tourists he'd guided have always appreciated his knowledge of Kyōto, Japanese history and traditions, as well as his guiding skills in English and French and his kindness.

At the end of the excursion, please pay your guide the guide fee above. We do not accept payment by card, please pay only with cash. These are flat fee for couples, families, or groups until 9 people. For groups of more than 10 people, please contact us.
* If you exceed 8 hours, in addition to 35,000 yen, it'll cost you 4,000 yen per hour.
**Certified national guides are exempt from having to pay any entries of sites, save for few exceptions that we will let you know by email if it is the case of your visit program.
Your guide try and ensure safe visit, but please note the fees above do not include any insurance.
Due to the Japanese tourism law, guides are not allowed to make reservations (hotel, restaurants, transports,...). We can only reserve visits of imperial villas or specific temples which need an inscription under the condition that you request our guide service to visit that place. However, it doesn't mean we can guarantee the inscription, especially in case of occasional ceremony or other reasons. For more details, please contact us.
The above fees are for the case where the first meeting point and the ending point of the tour are both within Kyōto. If the meeting point is out of Kyōto, (for instance Ōsaka, Nara, Kōbe, etc.), please pay your guide his/her travel expenses from Kyōto to your request place.
You can use our services as soon as you arrive at Kansai International Airport in Ōsaka, KIX, in case you need our service to your hotel, and then directly start guided tour. In this case, the start of our service is the initially scheduled time of arrival of your flight at KIX (regardless of any reasons for the delay of your flight) and the end of our service is no more than 8 hours after the initial arrival time. Since KIX Airport is far from Kyōto, this service will be billed as a day of visit, i.e. 35,000 yen.
